East Yorkshire D.A  Introduction

East Yorkshire DA run rallies on most weekends from March through to November. These rallies provide a cheap and basic form of camping (your own sanitation is usually an essential item - a water point for drinking water and a waste/elsan disposal point being the only facilities on most sites). At some of our rallies you will find entertainment and social gatherings organised, suppers, communal barbeques and fun events. Other rallies will be simple, quiet rallies held in places not usually open to camping.

The first mention of the East Yorkshire section was in the club magazine within the Yorkshire D.A's entries way back in 1937. East Yorkshire D.A was fully formed the following year in 1938 and is still going strong 70 years later. The D.A has come on a long way from that very first meet which was held at South Cave and was attended by 5 units. Our area covers the entire East Riding of Yorkshire and the former North Humberside with post codes ranging from YO4, YO15-16, YO25 and HU1-20. We can also boast one of the longest established temporary holiday sites within the club at Pond Cottage, Silpho near Hackness, Scarborough which is now approaching it's 40th year.

You can expect a warm friendly welcome at any of our sites - if you are a first time camper, please let the Stewards know and they will offer any assistance you may need.

Please remember that we are all members of the 'friendly club' and to be both courteous and considerate to fellow campers when using generators on all East Yorkshire D.A. rallies. Generators should always be located adjacent to your own unit, and not in an area where they could cause any inconvenience to other members. There are to be STRICTLY NO INDUSTRIAL GENERATORS used on site, and MUST NOT be left running unattended. The use of generators should be limited to between the hours of 10:00am and 6:00pm. During these times the D.A. would recommend that a period of 2 hours use would be sufficient to charge your battery. The only exception to someone using a generator for longer periods would be in the case of a specific medical need, or during a large D.A. event when the extended use of generators for lighting purposes or other health and safety reasons has been deemed necessary by the committee. If you have a particular reason for the extended use of a generator beyond 2 hours, please speak to the stewards who will consider your request, but please remember, DECISIONS WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE STEWARD, AND THAT THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.

It is also essential in the interest of safety that the 5 MPH rule on site is strictly observed. Dogs must also be kept on a lead at all times.

                                        THANK YOU.
